Dr. Salama started his education by completing his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985, where he not only earned his BS in Biology but also played for the University Basketball Team and was nominated to the State of New York All Scholastic Team. After that, he pursued his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DMD.
Following his graduation, Dr. Salama completed a one-year general practice and surgical residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in 1989-90, during which he was appointed Chief Resident.
Dr. Salama then returned to the University of Pennsylvania SDM, where he completed his dual specialty certification in Orthodontics and Periodontics. He also underwent implant training at the Branemark Center at Penn.
Currently, Dr. Salama is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania and Dental College of Georgia. He also holds the position of Founder and permanent member of the Scientific Committee of the leading Online Dental Education Website, DENTALXP.com.
In addition, Dr. Salama is a legacy member of the Team Atlanta Dental Practice, which is a multidisciplinary practice renowned for its clinical research in implants, reconstructive, and esthetic dentistry.
Dr. Salama and his team have published numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and periodicals in peer-reviewed journals. As a highly respected professional in the field, he is often invited as a Keynote and featured speaker at Dental Conferences all around the world.

Following his professional training, Dr. Pelekanos established a private practice in Athens, oriented towards prosthodontics, implantology and esthetic dentistry. In 2002, he was appointed full-time Lecturer at the Department of Prosthodontics, Dental School, University of Athens, Greece, and in 2012 Assistant Professor in the same department. In 2008 and 2011, Dr. Pelekanos received second and first prize at the scientific award competition of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry held in Madrid, Spain and Istanbul, Turkey respectively. To date he has published over twenty articles in peer reviewed journals and 3 chapters in books.
